Words cannot describe...how awsome that was

They just can't...

This group is WAY overrated at this point

So Ultimate Showdown cartoon has been practically HOGGING a front page spot for nearly half frekkin' a year (which pretty much meant that chances are -1 for a decent cartoon to get on NG front page by default) - and it's only down now because the same guys who made US made another cartoon with the same graphics. Now, this cartoon is mediocre at best - it's seriously ameture. About 1/3 the effort that was put in UltimateS was put into this cartoon - With that said, this group could pretty much submit any piece of shit onto newgrounds and it'll get front page regardless - it apparently has 'special privalages' and a permanent seat on newgrounds.

I'm seriously disappointed in whoever BIASLY chooses the front page material. There are other cartoons that have been submited that deserve to have the opportunities that this attention hog deprives them of.

altffour responds:

It's not like we control the frontpage. Not to mention the fact we specifically said in the comments that it was a small sideproject we did for fun.

Well...

There's a fine line between funny in a dark/creepy way and just pointlessly ATTEMPTING to be creepy in hopes that it'll be fuunny that way. This is one of those plash cartoons that completely misses the mark and turns out to be a worthlessly pointless piece of material. I couldn't recommend it.

Fairly warned be ye fanboys...

The content in this flash is HARDLY as interesting as the feedback it gets every hour on the hour....

For the record, he DOES have a point. Newgrounds is a fairly large showcase of some of the best flash cartoons on the web. With that said, I find it hard to believe that a flash cartoon (the ultimate showdown) that only really has one thing going for it (A catchy little tune and fun lyrics - which weren't really ALL THAT FUNNY) beats everything else on Newgrounds. As a flashcartoon, it falls short in just about everything other than the song that has been slapped on to it. It comes complete with ameture graphics, ameture presentation, and ameture animation. Anyone else could do better with that song. I wouldn't have said the movie was overratted until I read the feedback from this one. People are definding Ultimate Showdown like it's the masaia of all flash cartoons. For the love of - it had a fun tune. Jesus, it's NOT THAT AWSOME.

One thing you have to understand about Newgrounds - It's like deviant art flash artists. You guys nail and crusify this guy like he's some attention seeking whore who shoved the cartoon in your faces. FOR THE RECORD he clearly made this cartoon more for his own pleasure than yours. He obviously didn't feel obliged to put in any real effort into it, anticipating no one was going to really see it anyway. He probably could care less. Wasted 5 minutes of your life watching it? YOUR FAULT! Not that I'm defending him, the flash still wasn't very good but still, guys.

A dull attempt at comedy...

I couldn't bring myself to finish this. I got pretty far before I realized that this cartoon was just not going to entertain me. The characters were too generic to stick out to me at all. It was just "Okay, there's the sarcastic one and the stupid one. That chemistry hasn't been explored yet" - That combination is more generic than (dare I say it) anime in the online comic community, and I ouldn't mind it too much if the jokes weren't generally weightless and..well...just really lame.

"I know what you're thinking! I Valentine special on New Years?! That's Crazy! But you know what else is crazy?!? A HOLLOWEEN SPECIAL!! HARHARHARHAR"

Oh yeah. That REALLY got me falling on the floor laughing after that one. Honestly, the humor in this cartoon was weak...

AceRaynor responds:

You didn’t laugh at something that wasn't a joke in the first place? Oh, the horror! The three second intro was designed to test the new way of lip synching, to provide an explanation why the events that follow it do so, and to hint at the ending. You lose. Hit the road, Joe.

However, I do agree with you about combination of sarcastic and stupid people. They are overused because they are true to life. Perhaps, sometime I'll figure out how to bypass the originality problem of their interaction.

Not really that impressive

It's not. I mean, it isn't much of anything. Anyone can make their flash incredibly surrealistic regardless how crappy and pointless the animation with that song. I can't properly give this flash any more credit than just doodling.

Really, one child is skary..

I liked it. It was really creepy, except...Okay, I'll just go out and say it. You keep using one character model with different hairstyles and clothes and they all generally have ONE personality, it's REEEEEAAAAALLLLY gotten old at this point, which is sad because I think you can really vary it up and make some even more unique pieces of animation. The color was really monotone like the others (which is cool mind you, but there was little use in lighting anywhere). and the animation worked but it was rather basic. Overall, nice presentation but I gave you a seven for recycling where you could've given more effort to make all your characters identities a bit more unique like their stories.

Great Stuff!!

The timing selection in this thing was great. ALL of the gags were clever and original. In my opinion, TGL media is WAY underrated - a lot of the animations have the smarter more original material than a lot of NG's "Best Authors". Really, this is good stuff, REALLY entertaining. I've seen MUCH improvement since the "New Bunny" cartoon and TGL's humor style shines through this WAY more elaborite display of character and plot development. Some characters were funny but it seemed a lot of them were simply clones of one basic character personality.

Possibly the funniest character on Newgrounds

Never have I laughed so hard at a flash cartoon. The humor in this character's rambling was TOP NOTCH and rivals (dare I say surpasses) anything on SouthPark or Drawn Together with some just downright outragious humor. In addition to the smaller gags, the censoring was one longer gag that kept me laughing twice as hard. There just isn't this much IN YOUR FACE humor anymore - seems it's much easier to write subtle humor. The graphics, not so great...Very simple, not a lot of action or movement or music or anything - of course that doesn't take away from the entertainment level of the animation. It gives the perfect feel of a random really late night Comedy Central cartoon. It was great.

Great Cinematography...Poor consistancy

The Brakenwood online flash cartoon franchise has dazzled Newgrounds with its lush animation...but that's about it. The traditional frame-to-frame animation that is portrayed in this flash displays true understanding of animation rather than the 8 hundred thousand other "Tween-Model" character building animators that call themselves cartoonists [I'm looking at you Cycon - Chris Boe - Joanime etc]. In addition, the elaborate "sets" and sounds really breathe life into the simplistic gradient filled environments.

Graphics - Were clearly animated from someone in a much higher leage of animation than the typical NewGrounds animators. The only problem is...in some parts the animation looks like it's better fit for a feature length movie and in some parts it looks like it couldn't hold a candle to Dora the Explorer. There are too many "Random Tweens" that takes a character frame object and transposes is slightly ala the time when Bitey picks up the stick. It's weird to say it being as there seems to be so much effort in this flash but it really shows a sign of laziness in some areas and as a result that scene looks weird and inconsistant with the rest of the animations.

The Music - was good but...it did not REMOTLY match the organic free flowing setting. That's hard to catch when it's so atmospheric and thematic but it doesn't portray the emotion you get on screen. It's like medieval "Knights and Heroes" like music and it really sticks out and distracts from the scene in addition to making the whole presentation about 3x more boring than it has to be.

Anyway. Some points were good for a chuckle, but could've been better.
